About us

Ohio Independent Laboratories (OIL) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Mestek, Inc.  Located at 120 S Plin St, Bradner, Ohio 43406, OIL operates Monday through Friday, by appointment only (and weather permitting, when applicable).

Established in ​2014

OIL was created to meet the global need for a heated air test lab for life-safety HVAC testing.  With only a few of these privately owned chambers in existence, the industry expressed a growing need for a heated airflow laboratory to open their doors to the public.  Leading with Experience Based Innovation, Mestek, Inc. answered the call, and Ohio Independent Laboratories was created!​

OIL Management

Eric Gohring
President

After graduating from The University of Toledo, College of Engineering, Eric began his career in the HVAC industry in 2002 as a Product Engineer for Air Balance, a Division of Mestek.  Eventually working his was up to Product Manager-Life Safety, in 2010, Eric is well-versed in the entire process, from initial product design to product qualification.  

Jason Clark
Lab Manager

Jason is heart and soul of lab operations.  With six years of experience as an automotive technician early in his career, Jason transitioned to testing in an automotive test lab in 2000 where he was responsible for vibration, dynamometer, and air-flow testing.   He joined the OIL team in 2017 as a Senior Lab Technician and was elevated to OIL's Lab Manager in June of 2020.

We're here to help!

At Ohio Independent Laboratories we strive to help you achieve your testing goals.  However, in order to maintain the required level of  independence as a data acquisition laboratory, we're not at liberty to assist in the design of your product, nor do we offer discounts in our pricing.  We conduct testing as per the requirements of the applicable standard and collect the data with calibrated instrumentation.  We do not issue, or otherwise grant any certifications, listings, or ratings, nor are we responsible for the successful certification of your product.
